Quick Tips:
- For an exact phrase, use "quotation marks".
- In case of zero results, check your spellling.
- If you cannot find your search word in the singular, try plural or vice versa.
- If you cannot find your search word in Canadian/British spelling, try US or vice versa.
More Search Tips:
Use wildcards. A wildcard character uses an asterisk (*) to get more mileage from your search word. For example, depart* would return depart, departs, departing, department, departure, etc. - but the (*) only replaces up to four extra letters. (Your search word must have at least three letters used in conjunction with the (*); otherwise, the search will ignore a word such as th*.) Also, you can use two asterisks: *place* would return replace, placement, etc.
Use quotation marks. Quotation marks enable you to find the exact phrase you are seeking. Otherwise, a search using more than one word will return pages with any of the search words. Example:
- information technology - 71 returns
- "information technology" - 33 returns
- "information technology" not internet - 18 returns
What is an operator? Words such as and, or & not. By adding "not" to your search phrase, you will receive a more precise outcome, as shown above. (Operators and & or are already built into the search engine: Match "All Terms" is like using and. Match "Any Term" is the same as using or.)
A final suggestion. If you cannot find your search word as one word, try two words placed within quotation marks or vice versa. For example, website or "web site".
