Expertise: Engineers Canada/Ingénieurs Canada, established in 1936, is the national organization of the 12 provincial and territorial associations/ordre that govern the practice of engineering in Canada and license the country's 160,000 professional engineers. Engineers Canada serves the associations/ordre, which are its constituent and sole members, through the delivery of national programs intended to ensure the highest standards of engineering education, professional qualifications and ethical conduct. As the national and international voice of the associations/Ordre, Engineers Canada also promotes greater public understanding of the nature, role and contribution of engineering to society.

Through the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB), Engineers Canada accredits undergraduate engineering programs whose graduates meet or exceed the educational standards required to obtain registration as a professional engineer in Canada.

Engineers Canada formulates and monitors national guidelines on professional engineering qualifications, standards of practice, and ethical professional conduct. This work is undertaken by Engineers Canada through the Canadian Engineering Qualifications Board (CEQB).

Engineers Canada gathers, analyzes and publishes information on employment, skill sets, academic enrollment and emerging technologies in the engineering profession.

Engineers Canada coordinates and monitors international mutual recognition agreements that concern the recognition of professional practice qualifications as well as academic qualifications (NAFTA, APEC, Washington Accord).

Engineers Canada:
Facilitates national and international mobility for Canadian engineers.
Promotes rigorous international engineering qualifications and standards of practice.
Publishes national guidelines and a code of ethics for engineers.
Enhances the global competitiveness of Canadian engineering.
Presents the Canadian Engineers' Awards to honour Canada's outstanding Engineers, engineering students and engineering achievements.
Manages a national scholarship program to support exceptional engineers undertaking postgraduate studies at the university level.
Sponsors value-added insurance and RRSP programs for registered members of its 12 constituent associations/ordre.
Is a partner in National Engineering Week (NEW), an annual event designed to increase public awareness of engineering, encourage young people to become engineers, and celebrate engineering excellence.
Supports the Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation, which is dedicated to increasing the participation of women in the engineering profession.
Works with Canadian universities to ensure that students graduate with the academic requirements to be licensed in any jurisdiction in Canada.
