Expertise: Formed in 1958 as a Federation of Provincial Associations.
Mandate: To build communities in which people who have an intellectual disability have equality, opportunity, membership and the right to participate.
CACL is one of Canada's 10 largest charitable organizations with over 40,000 members across Canada. The association works at a local, provincial, & national level on behalf of people with intellectual disabilities & their families.
In 1985, the association changed its name from the "Association for the Mentally Retarded" to the "Association for Community Living".
