Expertise: Employing 750+ people. The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) is the government organization that grants and registers IP rights in Canada. IP Includes: Patents, Trade-Marks, Copyrights, Industrial Designs and Integrated Circuit Topographies.

International Operations: CIPO is an active participant in World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) activities, particularly in the area of industrial property harmonization, technical assistance and industrial property information and ensures that Canada's interests are represented at meetings held at WIPO Headquarters or in WIPO member states.

Mandate: The mandate of CIPO is to: (1) administer IP systems in Canada; (2) Foster the use of IP systems and exploitation of IP information; (3) encourage invention, innovation and creativity in Canada and; (4) promote Canada's international IP interests.
