Expertise: EPIC is an industry initiative committed to the the responsible use and recovery of plastics resources.

Mandate: EPIC promotes an integrated approach to waste management and offers technical expertise toward the development of innovative waste solutions that are economically and environmentally sustainable.

Features:

·       The Environment and Plastics Industry Council (EPIC) has an information-rich web site for the media and public (www.plastics.ca/epic), as well as a dedicated Teachers' Resource Area.

·       The Teachers' Resource Site (www.plastics.ca/teachers) provides access to free newsletters, course curricula, on-line anti-litter games, hands-on science experiments, and links.

·       The Adventure Game Site (www.plastics.ca/peanut) invites students to accompany Peanut the elephant in a five-city tour as he travels the globe to help his friend Poly, and find clues to answer the question "What do elephants have to do with plastics?"

·       Science lab for grades 4, 5, 6.

·       Facts sheets, newsletters, scientific reports and technical information on plastics and the environment.

· The EPIC web site contains access to an Integrated Waste Management Computer Model, fact sheets, newsletters, scientific reports and technical information on plastics and the environment (degradable plastics, energy recovery, integrated waste management, etc.). It also offers a special section on end-of-life management of plastics, and offers free online databases on recycled plastics and recycled plastic products.
